Host Sherrilynne Starkie welcomes author and activist Larissa Russell, who is successfully living on the spectrum, to episode 24 of the 50 Women Over 50 podcast.
Larissa’s life was quite a struggle until when, at age 50, an autism diagnosis was a turning point. It helped her make sense of her life and is a big part of why she says that life in her 50s living on the spectrum has been ‘amazing’.
Since her diagnosis, she’s become an entrepreneur, an international best-selling author, a feminist activist and an advocate for the LGBT+ community.
Larissa is a textbook example of how, for many women, life begins at 50. Her autism diagnosis brought her clarity and a new vision for her future. She says, “My whole life I was told I was THE problem. Now I know that I’m not the problem. I know now that the world doesn’t work the way my brain works, and I need to navigate it differently.”
