A couple of weeks ago I published a list of the podcasts I’d been listening to and people seemed to really like it. So here’s an update with what I’ve listened to and enjoyed this past week.
For Immediate Release #171: Ice Cream For Breakfast
I’ve been listening to Shel Holtz’s podcast for ten years and rarely miss an episode. Each is absolutely filled with must-know news for PR and marketing and it provides a ton of insight into current issues and trends. This episode is no different. Shel and Ike Piggott discuss how to (and how not to) use push notifications. It includes an interesting discussion about PR firms ‘burning’ clients too (a familiar tale that mostly myth, inho).
Spin Sucks Episode 30: Alexa Flash Briefings
Digital PR Guru Gini Dietrich explains a new social media channel, Alexa Flash Briefings, a service offered by Amazon for their Alexa/Echo customers. She explains how to make the most of it and leverage it for business.
Try Dry Episode 2
The Try Dry Podcast, from Alcohol Change UK, is for anyone wanting to discover the health, lifestyle and financial benefits of cutting back on booze. I’m taking part in Dry January as usual this year, and I listen in to pick up tips to keep me on the straight and narrow. This week I learned about Kombucha, a tea beverage they say nicely replaces ‘adult beverages’. I’ve not tried it yet, but I’m going to!
Under the Influence: Hypertargeting
And finally, a blast from the past! A client asked me for my opinion on this 2012 episode of Terry O’Reilly’s epic podcast. As usual, Terry does an excellent job of explaining advertising insider practices for the layman. Online privacy issues have changed since 2012, but this episode gives a valuable foundation to help explain how we got where we are today.
