Looks like PR pros will soon be pitching to computers. I guess we always knew this time would come, but still, when I read the FT story about Thomson Financial replacing humans in the newsroom with computers, I was a bit shocked.
Supposedly they can write and distribute a story in 0.3 seconds. Thomson is so pleased with trials; they plan to expand the practice.
Just last week, Janine and I were reminiscing about when we used to tell clients to expect to see results in three months. Now they expect coverage within 48 hours of signing the contract. Next they’ll want it in 0.3 seconds!
Okay, we’re up for the challenge. But can anyone tell us how to go about pitching a story to a computer?
