ThirdThursday was a rather ‘intimate affair’ this month and I thank John Jamie, Charlotte, Chris, Nathan, Charlie and Owen for attending.
One thing is clear, we need to make a few changes to breath some fresh life into this initiative, so that’s what we are going to do.
Next month, we’re going to change the venue, have a guest speaker, offer free lunch, and basically turn the whole thing on its head.  So mark 19 February in your diary now as the launch of the new Isle of Man Social Media Club …

Fourteen people have confirmed that they will be attending the Isle of Man Social Media Club ThirdThursday meet up on 20 November.  Nine more have said maybe! It seems that this idea is gaining momentum.
ThirdThursday is an international movement whereby folks who are interested in social media get together to talk about trends, tools, initiatives, ethics, anything.  I doesn’t matter if you are a corporate tweeter or if you want to find out more about what your kids are up to on Bebo, you are welcome.

The Isle of Man blogosphere growing (slowly but surely). And this week has seen two highlights.  First of all, Derek ‘The Bandit’ Richardson’s excellent South African tech podcast, Switched On, featured quite a long discussion about life (and technology) in the  Isle of Man.
Also, my blogging friend from the North, Babooshka of the Ramsey Daily Photo blog, was Blogger‘s ‘Blog of Note’ yesterday.  She tells me that traffic has gone through the roof!  She should be proud; her blog is excellent. (She’s promised to come out to the next ThirdThursday …

Well actually it is ThirdThursday and we should be having a meeting of the Isle of Man Social Media Club today. But with all the travelling I’ve been doing lately, it kind of sneaked up on me.  I only just realised a minute ago that today should be the day. So what should we do? Meet another day?  Wait till next month? Let me know!

We’ve recently welcomed a new voice in social media to the Isle of Man. Derek ‘The Bandit’ Richardson has just relocated from South Africa and you’ll soon be hearing him at weekends on 3FM.  But when he’s not entertaining Island residents with his take on dance music, he’s pretty busy online. He’s got two podcasts: Switched On, where he looks internet technologies and Sound Republic which focuses on his passion, dance music. He’s got a lot of fans from all over the world (about a millions Facebook friends) and is …

We had a great turnout to the social media club at today’s ThirdThursday lunch in Douglas. Discussion ranged from social tools, networks, Web 3.O, corporate blogging, platforms, communications and marketing strategies and campaigns. Once again Owen has beat me to the punch so check his blog for a round up of the event.
For me one highlight was that everyone dug deep for Michael Bellis. We raised £170 to help Michael on his journey. Thank you every one for supporting this cause. I stopped at the Isle …

Last month saw the inaugural meeting of the Isle of Man Social Media Club and a group of blogging enthusiasts and social-media-curious individuals got together to talk about Web 2.0 technologies and how we use them.
The next meet up is 21 August. Everyone is welcome! It takes place at Paparazzi in Douglas at 12.30 to 14.00 and is a very ‘social’ occasion. We just all order our lunch and talk about what we are doing online, what’s new in Web 2.0, trends, etc.
Let us know if …
