Facebook has just announced changes to its advertising guidelines to make them simpler, better organised and more intuitive.
The social network is now allowing the promotion of offline casinos or other legal gambling establishments provided the ads are appropriately targeted. However, it continues to prohibit the promotion of online gambling in the U.S, but may allow ads for online gambling and games of skill in other countries with prior authorisation. Facebook also now allows authorised state and national lottery commissions to advertise to users of the appropriate age within the …

Facebook users who use Places to check into a store or “like” a fan page will be soon finding it posted to their friends’ Facebooks, and so far, there are no plans to allow people to ‘opt out’.

This is a divisive issue. Some people see social networking as the technology sector’s “next big thing” that will overtake search advertising. Others take …

Remember that scene in Bridget Jones’s Diary where Daniel says, “You don’t have the faintest bloody idea of just how much trouble the company’s in. You swan in, in your short skirt and your sexy see-through blouse and fanny around with press releases.”?
My heart sank the first time I heard that dialogue. “That’s it,” I thought, heart sinking. “That’s exactly what people think that public relations is all about.”
I had the exact same feeling earlier when I read the Isle of Man Newspapers’ story Cost of PR in spotlight as …
