Lately, times haven’t been too good for HMV, the British multinational music retailer. In January the company officially entered administration and some UK stores were closed. Then last week, as 190 people were in the midst of hearing that they were losing their jobs, the company’s Twitter account was hijacked by disgruntled employees who live tweeted events as they unfolded.

Treasury Board of Canada President Tony Clement, sometimes known as the tweeting minister, spoke at last week’s IABC 2012 Canada Business Communicators’ Summit in Ottawa. This week CIRA*, the organization behind the .ca domain, held its annual general meeting and symposium in Ottawa, and Twitter co-founder Biz Stone was the closing keynote speaker.

Pepsi and Twitter are teaming up for what might become a real game changer for the Twitterverse. Today, Pepsi’s Twitter page has become an entertainment centrepiece where people can download free songs and watch concerts.
