Branding You: using social media to find a job
The CPRS Ottawa/Gatineau Student Program recently invited me to speak to a group of recent public relations and communications graduates. The event was designed to help students make the transition to PR professional and support them in their search for a full-time job. My short presentation focused on how to use social media for job search.
I gave a brief overview on how recruiters use social media to source applicants and advertise vacancies. Then I provided some advice on how to stand out online. I used my own experiences as a case study (including confessing my Coronation Street addiction) and shared a poll of Ottawa PR Facebookers I had recently done to find out which social networks are important for job search in this market.
I’ve posted my slides below. Enjoy!
