Coming clean on virtual consultancy
I think it’s about time I came clean about something. Strive Public Relations is no longer a virtual consultancy. We moved to a mixed virtual/traditional model about six weeks ago. Let me explain.
The business was growing to a point where it was impossible to maintain the virtual status. We needed to hire some support staff, account assistants and managers, and it didn’t seem feasible to let these younger professionals work from their homes. So we’ve taken offices in the Isle of Man. Now our happy team of four (plus a bookkeeper) supports our virtual team of senior consultants and so far, the new model is working perfectly.
Just this week we had Strivers in London, Cambridge, Surrey and Maryland collaborating on various client projects with our non-virtual staffers providing the research and support needed to get the jobs done. Everything went smoothly.
And so, I think we made the right decision with moving to the mixed model. Has anyone out there done something similar? I’d love to hear about it.

The biggest problem with virtual companies is that although the scale out quite nicely, they don’t scale up very well. Anyway, good luck with the new offices!
